WD+fuseproject
In collaboration with fuseproject’s develoment of a new design language, I worked to move the desktop products through to production. This meant developing internal configurations, approving new RHRC (rapid-heat, rapid-cool) tooling and countless trials to eliminate hot spots in the lighting. It also involved trips to Taiwan, China, Malaysia, and Thailand.
I worked closely with our engineering team to create a form that was efficient and accessible. I was involved in the tooling selection, then traveled to the factories to help dial in molding parameters.
We designed a lighting effect to be piped from the sides of the device, yet appear centered and evenly dispersed.
Below is an example of the surface quality we achieved, and some of the reviews it took to get there.
This series of products had me traveling from conference rooms to factories all across Asia. Shown here are some of my favorite photos from my trips.
